USAID: Market Based Resilience for Marginalized Populations Activity in Somalia

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) is seeking applications for a Cooperative Agreement from qualified organizations to implement Somalia’s Market Based Resilience for Marginalized Populations (MB-RMP) Activity.

USAID, through the MB-RMP activity, will provide support to a Recipient that will work with the Somali government and people to ensure drought resistant agriculture and livelihood diversification for rural and urban households and robust private sector engagement for inclusive economic opportunities for marginalized groups. More specifically, USAID will finance a Recipient that will provide targeted technical support and capacity building to strengthen resilience to climatic shocks for agriculture systems, increase the capacity of the private sector to include urban migrants and displaced persons, and increase marginalized householdsThusinesses’ access to finance and domestic remittances.

Goal: Accelerated economic development for marginalized groups in the targeted areas of Somalia by increasing individual, household, business, community, and system-wide resilience through rural and urban livelihood diversification and promoting inclusive economic market systems to combat real and perceived grievances that contribute to violent extremism and conflict.

Subject to funding availability and at the discretion of the Agency, USAID intends to provide $65,000,000.00 in total USAID funding over a 5-year period.
