Call for Proposals: Living Labs (WEF) - South Africa

Deadline: 23 November 2018

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID)/Southern Africa (SA) has announced the Local Partnerships for the Transformation of Water Annual Program Statement (APS) to support the water sector for the Southern Africa region.

This Annual Program Statement (APS) invites civil society organizations, non-governmental organizations, non-profit organizations, education and research institutions, private businesses, financial institutions, chambers of commerce, industry associations, foundations, entrepreneurs, investors, philanthropists, and other private-sector organizations to submit concept papers to implement activities (i) to address key challenges in the Southern Africa region and (ii) that are aligned with USAID/SA’s development objectives.

USAID encourages the development of concept papers that advance these objectives through the development of a network of powerful and vibrant learning exchanges across identified communities throughout the Southern Africa region.

The purpose of the Local Partnerships for the Transformation of Water APS program is to create new partnerships between USAID and NGOs, including those that may have had limited or no prior funding from USAID. A key goal of this APS program is to expand USAID’s NGO network of development partners and provide capacity building support to the new partners. In doing so, USAID will enable a wider range of partners to better meet their constituents’ needs and contribute to development outcomes.

Objectives

USAID envisions that activities under this APS will focus on transforming how people relate to, manage and benefit from water. It is envisioned that activities may focus on the following four objectives:

Geographic Scope

The geographic scope for this APS includes the following SADC member states: Angola, Botswana, Lesotho, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Eswatini and Zambia. Furthermore, in an effort to build off of existing and completed programs, the following SADC countries are considered priority geographies: Angola, Botswana, Lesotho, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa and Eswatini.
