The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) is seeking applications to fund a program entitled “Communities Building Peace Together (CBPT)” to reduce social conflict and violence and increase social cohesion and peacebuilding in Guatemala’s Western Highlands Region.
The project will contribute to Government of Guatemala (GOG) and United States Government (USG) objectives of promoting development, reducing poverty, and reducing irregular migration as per the USG’s Strategy for Engagement in Central America and the Plan of the Alliance for Prosperity in the Northern Triangle.
Program Objectives
- Establish and/or strengthen inclusive community-led engagement, dialogue, and mapping to identify, prioritize, and develop action plans addressing sources of and resilience to social conflict.
- Build partnerships between communities and external entities to implement plans prioritized by communities.
- Strengthen GOG and non-governmental capacity to participate in managing, responding, and resolving local conflicts.

- Award Floor: $25,000,000
Eligibility Criteria
- U.S. and non-US organizations may participate under this program.
- Nonprofits that do not have a 501(c)(3) status with the IRS, other than institutions of higher education
- Nonprofits having a 501(c)(3) status with the IRS, other than institutions of higher education
- Small businesses
- For profit organizations other than Small businesses
- Applicants must have established financial management, monitoring and evaluation processes, internal control systems, and policies and procedures that comply with established U.S. Government standards, laws, and regulations. The successful applicant will be subject to a responsibility determination assessment by the Agreement Officer (AO).
- The Recipient must be a responsible entity.
