The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in Macedonia is seeking applications for a cooperative agreement from qualified registered Macedonian organizations to fund a program entitled “Youth Ethnic Integration (YEI) Activity” with an aim to improve interethnic cohesion among youth by creating conditions for positive interactions and cultivating democratic and civic values and behaviors.
Objectives
- Strengthened interethnic cohesion in the education system and
- Strengthened civic culture and behaviors among youth at the school and community level
Funding Information
- Subject to the availability of funds, USAID/Macedonia anticipates awarding one award up with a total available amount of funding of $5,853,000 million.
- The duration of the proposed program should be 5 years. The anticipated start date for this activity is on or about March 30, 2017.
Eligibility Criteria
- Limited to Local Organizations: Applications should be from qualified local, Macedonian entities, such as private, non-profit organizations (or for-profit companies willing to forego profits), including private voluntary organizations, universities, research organizations, professional associations, and relevant special interest associations.
- USAID defines a local organization as one that:
- Is organized under the laws of the recipient country, i.e. Macedonia;
- Has its principal place of business in Macedonia.
- Is majority-owned by individuals who are citizens or lawful permanent residents of the recipient country or is managed by the governing body, the majority of whose members are citizens or lawful permanent residents of Macedonia and
- Is not controlled by a foreign entity or by an individual or individuals who are not citizens or permanent residents of Macedonia.
- USAID welcomes applications from organizations which have not previously received financial assistance from USAID.
- Applicants must have established financial management, monitoring and evaluation processes, internal control systems, and policies and procedures that comply with established U.S. Government standards, laws, and regulations. The successful applicant(s) may be subject to a responsibility determination assessment (Pre-award Survey) by the Agreement Officer (AO).
- The Recipient must be a responsible entity.
- USAID will not accept applications from individuals. All applicants must be legally recognized organizational entities under applicable law. Public International Organizations are not eligible to apply for funding under this program.
