The Kawartha Conservation is currently seeking applications for its Water Fund to help not-for-profit community organizations access funding, knowledge, and technical support for environmental projects in the City of Kawartha Lakes.

Agricultural

Project Ideas:
- Water management (eavestroughs, alternate watering systems, tile drain control boxes, livestock exclusion fencing)
- Naturalization (tree, shrub, and native plants)
- Other Best Management Practices (BMPs): cover crops, manure storage, windrows and vegetated buffers, etc.
Tree planting

Project Ideas:
- Block planting
- Windrow planting
- Other – get in touch with the team!
Septic and well

Project Ideas:
- Septic upgrades (No new septics or repairs)
- Well upgrades and decommissions (No new wells)
Urban

Project Ideas:
- Naturalization (tree, shrub, and native plants)
- Stormwater management methods (raingardens, rain barrels, French drains)

Waterfront

- Naturalization (planting native trees, shrubs, and/or perennials)
- Reinforcement with sloped stone (at a 3:1 slope or gentler)

Community

Applicants to the Community Fund Must Be:
- Not-for-profit organizations / registered charities
- Located in the City of Kawartha Lakes
Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must be landowners within:
- the Kawartha watershed and City of Kawartha Lakes,
- the Kawartha watershed and Durham Region,
- OR an area in City of Kawartha Lakes not covered by another Conservation Authority

OR community organizations within:
- the Kawartha Watershed and City of Kawartha Lakes,
- OR an area in City of Kawartha Lakes not covered by another Conservation Authority

Priority will be given to:
- Projects near water
- Projects that have the potential to improve water
- quality or terrestrial or aquatic ecosystems
- First-time applicants
