The Michigan Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Wildlife Habitat Grant Program (WHGP) is now open to provide funding to conservation partners to assist the Wildlife Division with developing or improving wildlife habitat for game species.

The WHGP began in October 2013 and is funded with a portion of hunting and fishing licenses that are sold annually.

The primary goal of this program is to enhance and improve the quality and quantity of game species habitat in support of specific goals from the Wildlife Division’s Strategic Plan 2021-2026, The GPS.

GPS Goal 2 – Manage habitat for sustainable wildlife populations and wildlife-based recreation.

The applicant must commit to provide at least 10% of the total project cost. All matching funds to complete the project must be committed at the time of application. Applicant match may be in any of the following forms:
