Women’s Peace and Humanitarian Fund: Call for Proposals to support CSOs in Haiti

The Women’s Peace and Humanitarian Fund (WPHF) has launched its new call for proposals in Haiti to support civil society organizations working to improve the human rights, safety, security and mental health of women and girls, promote women’s participation and leadership in crises and humanitarian responses, and improve the socio-economic recovery and political participation of women and young women in peacebuilding contexts.

The fund aims to strengthen their role as actors and forces of change. The call for proposals is designed to enable civil society organizations to respond to new health and security constraints through the funding of flexible activities. It is also about:

• strengthening the influence of CSOs in humanitarian action;
• strengthen their expertise in providing essential services to women and girls affected by conflict situations; and
• contribute to the recovery of decapitalized families due to displacement and other major constraints.

Sustainable, contextual, innovative and effective strategies are expected to facilitate the participation and influence of women’s CSOs in decision-making frameworks; advocacy actions. Emphasis will be placed on strengthening networks for a coordinated, coherent and visible approach of CSOs in humanitarian action and conflict contexts. It is also a question of capitalizing on existing initiatives, in particular synergies with actions supported by the Spotlight Initiative and the Peacebuilding Fund (PBF).

Objective

• The general objective of this call for proposals is to provide grants to local civil society organizations in Haiti focused on the protection and defense of the rights of women and girls, as well as women’s participation and leadership in planning and responding to humanitarian crises in conflict settings.

Funding Information

• WPHF seeks to fund eligible organizations in Niger through the following funding streams:
  • Institutional funding from 2,500 USD to 30,000 USD
    • Provides institutional funding for the restoration and strengthening of the institutional capacities of civil society organizations working to implement commitments relating to the Women, Peace and Security agenda and to ensure that they are able to meet their needs. their needs and improve their impact (in line with WPHF Impact Area 1).
  • Programmatic funding from $30,000 to $200,000 
    • Provides programmatic funding for CSO projects aimed at:
      • promoting women’s participation and leadership in crises and humanitarian responses (in line with WPHF Impact Area 3),
      • improving human rights, safety, security and mental health of women and girls (in line with WPHF Impact Area 5),
      • improve the socio-economic recovery and political participation of women and young women in consolidation contexts peace (aligned with WPHF Impact Area 6)

Outcomes

Proposals should contribute to the following three outcomes:

• WPHF Impact Area 3: Women’s participation and leadership is increased in planning and response to humanitarian crises.
• WPHF Impact Area 5: The human rights, safety, security and mental health of women and girls are improved.
• WPHF Impact Area 6: Improved socio-economic recovery and political participation of women and girls in peacebuilding contexts.

Scope (place and duration)

• The WPHF will fund eligible projects anywhere in the Country.
• Multi-country projects or projects outside the national territory will not be accepted.
• All civil society organizations can apply for grants of a maximum duration of 1 year with the exception of organizations selected under the targeted call for proposals.

Eligibility Criteria

• organizations for the defense of women’s rights, the rights of young feminists and led by women or young women, which are registered in Haiti and which intervene at the national, departmental, regional level (several departments) or local.
• These organizations must demonstrate a proven track record of working with women and girls. Joint projects are allowed and encouraged.
• Women’s rights or feminist organization: The organization’s formal mission or vision statement should reflect its commitment to addressing multiple or intersecting forms of discrimination and advancing gender equality and women’s rights. The organization should work to transform the underlying factors/ systems/structures, including patriarchy and gender power dynamics, that perpetuate gender-based violence.
• Women-led organization: Must be led by a woman as director/head of organization.
• Youth-focused organization: To be considered “youth-focused”, the fundamental mission and vision of the organization must be focused on supporting the social, economic and political participation of young women and young men and fight against multiple or intersecting forms of discrimination against young women and young men. WPHF will pay particular attention to youth-focused organizations that support young women, advance gender equality and peacebuilding.
• Young women-led organization: must be led by a young person between the ages of 18 and 29 who acts as director/head of organization.
• Joint projects with other local women’s rights organizations, youth-focused organizations, women led civil society organizations or young women are encouraged. For joint projects, only the lead organization is required to meet the eligibility criteria.

Ineligible

The following entities are NOT eligible to apply for a WPHF grant:

• Government agencies or institutions;
• United Nations agencies or United Nations country offices;
• Individuals
• Private sector entities
• Universities and educational institutions
• International organizations
