Are you a dynamic youth-led organization passionate about creating positive change in your community? Do you have innovative ideas to address pressing issues such as harmful practices, unintended pregnancies, and gender-based violence affecting adolescent girls and young women (AGYWs)? If yes, the Youth Initiatives Small Grants (YISG) Program, under the Tower to You(th) Ghana” initiative with Norsaac as a lead partner invites you to apply for financial and technical support to implement your initiatives and make a lasting impact.
The Power to You(th) (PtY) program, funded by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, was launched in 2021 in seven countries, including Ghana. The program emphasizes Southern Leadership, ensuring that local partners are at the helm of national implementation. In Ghana, the implementation is managed by a consortium comprising the Ghana SRHR Alliance, Songtaba, and the lead partner Norsaac.
Objectives of the Power to You(th) Program
- The primary goal of the PtY program is to ensure that adolescent girls and young women (AGYW) from underserved communities are meaningfully included in all decision-making processes regarding key issues. These key issues include:
- Harmful Practices: Efforts to eliminate practices such as child marriage and female genital mutilation (FGM).
- Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV): Initiatives to combat various forms of gender-based violence.
- Unintended Pregnancies: Programs aimed at reducing the incidence of unintended pregnancies through education and access to reproductive health services.
Funding Information
- Grant Amount: Up to GHC30,000 to GHC45,000.
- Grant duration: 5 Months.
Role of YISG
- The Youth Initiative for Social Good (YISG) aims to strengthen the collective actions of youth-led, youth-focused, and women-led organizations in combating SGBVs, unintended pregnancies, and harmful practices. The focus is on fostering collaboration and enhancing the capacity of these organizations to effectively address these critical issues.
Expected Outcomes
- The PtY program aims to achieve the following outcomes:
- Increased participation of AGYW in decision-making processes at various levels.
- Reduction in the prevalence of harmful practices, SGBV, and unintended pregnancies.
- Enhanced collaboration among youth-led, youth-focused, and women-led organizations.
- Improved policies and frameworks that support the rights and well-being of AGYW.
Location
- Projects must be in Accra (policy influencing ideas only), Upper East, Savanna, North-East, or Northern region.
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants: Youth-led organizations, groups, or individuals aged 15-35 years.
