Submissions open for the Teach for India Fellowship Program

Deadline: 08-Feb-2026

Applicants are now invited to submit applications for the Teach for India Fellowship Program to revolutionise education in India.

Focus: Develop an understanding of how poverty and inequity shape the lives of India’s children while discovering your own values, strengths, and purpose. Step into leadership by creating opportunities for students to reach their full potential and by building key skills in visioning, planning, and execution.

Become part of a nationwide movement of changemakers, collaborating with diverse communities to drive real impact at the grassroots level. Lead with empathy and purpose as you nurture the next generation of leaders.

The Teach For India Fellowship offers a two-year, full-time teaching opportunity in English medium government or low-fee private schools across eight cities—Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai, and Pune.

Professionally, the Fellowship equips participants with valuable transferable skills. Through classroom and community engagement, fellows learn to connect and manage relationships, envision and plan for impact, execute effectively in challenging environments, and reflect for continuous improvement. These experiences strengthen their leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities applicable across sectors.

Teach For India offers a stipend of INR 25,344 per month, along with a City Compensatory Allowance between INR 6,000 and INR 12,600 depending on the placement city. Additional benefits include reimbursements for work-related expenses, health insurance coverage of up to INR 100,000, free counselling services, paid leave, and access to national and school holidays.

Fellows teach students from underserved communities, focusing on holistic education that encourages both academic and personal growth. They may serve as class teachers handling all subjects or as subject-specific educators in English, Math, Social Studies, or Science.

Fellows are selected based on their belief in equitable education, leadership potential, courage to pursue ambitious goals, resilience in challenges, critical thinking, problem-solving ability, and openness to collaboration.

The program comprises five stages that guide Fellows from induction to joining the Alumni movement, where they continue to contribute to educational equity across India. With around 1,000 Fellows and over 5,500 Alumni, the Fellowship brings together individuals from diverse professional and academic backgrounds, including leading Indian and international universities.

Many professionals transition from corporate roles at organisations such as Deloitte, Citibank, Infosys, and Amazon, seeking purpose-driven work. Fellows range in age from 22 to 64 and represent regions across India and beyond.

Upon completion of the Fellowship, Alumni pursue careers in education, development, and governance, with many becoming CXOs, social entrepreneurs or pursuing advanced studies at prestigious global institutions.

Teach For India also provides post-Fellowship support through Internal and External Career Fairs, resume workshops, and mock interviews to help Fellows transition into impactful roles beyond the classroom.

Applications for the 2026 Fellowship cohort are open to individuals who will have completed graduation by June/July 2026, are first-time applicants for the 2026 cycle, and hold Indian or Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) status.
