Food and Nutrition Assistance Program for Crisis-Affected Populations (Lot 3) – Chad

Ambassador’s Special Self-Help Program - Ethiopia

Deadline: 25-Nov-2025

Many households in this area continue to struggle with limited access to food, declining livelihoods and high levels of malnutrition, particularly among children and mothers. To address these challenges, WFP will implement an approach that tailors support to different levels of household vulnerability, ensuring that the most at-risk families receive the type and scale of assistance they need.

Under this initiative, households identified as extremely vulnerable will receive monthly food assistance, either through direct food distributions or cash transfers that allow them to purchase necessary supplies locally. Households classified as very vulnerable will receive quarterly social transfers in the form of unconditional cash support, helping them stabilize their access to food and reduce negative coping mechanisms.

To prevent and treat malnutrition, the programme will provide monthly nutritional supplements to children aged six to twenty-three months, as well as pregnant and breastfeeding women. This targeted nutrition support aims to improve early childhood development, maternal health and long-term well-being. The programme will also promote essential family practices by increasing the knowledge of mothers and caregivers around child feeding, hygiene and disease prevention.

In addition to meeting immediate food needs, the initiative will support selected households in economic recovery activities that help build resilience and reduce vulnerability over time. By combining food assistance, nutrition support and livelihood strengthening, the programme seeks to improve the overall food and nutrition situation in the Ouaddai Region and help households move toward greater stability and self-reliance.
