Applicants are invited to apply for the EU Investigative Journalism Awards in Albania 2020.
The EU Investigative Journalism Award aims to elevate and promote the extraordinary achievements of investigative journalists and to improve the visibility of quality investigative journalism in the Western Balkans and Turkey.
Award Information
- The prize fund in Albania in 2020 (for the achievements of 2019) is 10,000 Euros.
- The first prize will be 5,000 Euros, the second 3,000 Euros, and the third prize will be 2,000 Euros. In exceptional cases the jury may decide not to award all prizes if the quality of the applications is not appropriate.
- Prices are presented in their gross value, from which there will be tax deductions in accordance with national laws
Eligibility Criteria
- Individuals or groups of journalists are allowed to apply in all forms of journalism (print, online, radio and TV), published or broadcast in Albanian in the official language, minority or international languages.
- Articles selected for the application must have appeared in print media, online, radio or TV during the 2019 calendar year.
- Investigative articles published in languages other than the official language of the country must also be submitted translated into the official languages of the country or into English.
- Candidates can be submitted by:
- Individuals or groups of journalists who are the authors of the nominated investigative article;
- Other individuals or organizations with prior written approval of the author / authors.
- Individuals or groups of journalists are only allowed to submit an application for an investigative article or series of articles with a common thematic focus.
- Award nominees and nominees accept the terms and conditions of this contest, they should also be willing to introduce themselves publicly.
- Journalists may not participate in the competition or receive a prize if he or she is in any of the situations.
