German-Southern Africa Journalist Program

German-Southern Africa Journalist Program

Deadline: 15-Feb-23

The International Journalists Program (IJP) is inviting applications for German-Southern Africa Journalist Program.

Once a year, journalists from southern Africa and Germany have the opportunity to work in Germany/southern Africa for a medium of their choice and also to produce articles for their home editorial office. The aim of the exchange program is to create public awareness for the continent of opportunity Africa and German-African issues. The program also wants to be a platform for the many exciting stories that are just waiting to be told.

The journalists get an overview of politics, economy, culture and society as well as an insight into the daily journalistic business of the host country. In addition to your own research, contact with local colleagues and experience of journalistic work in a foreign environment should also be encouraged.

The program starts in September with an introductory conference lasting several days in Berlin, in which the African scholarship holders and the German colleagues take part. This is followed by a work stay for the participating journalists in a guest editorial office and their own research activities in the region. If necessary, the IJP will support the scholarship holders in their search for a partner editorial team.
