Call for Expressions of Interest: Small Grant Fund for Syrian CSO-Media

The Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA / Sida) has commissioned NIRAS Sweden / NIRAS Sweden, together with colleagues from International Media Support (IMS), Fojo Media institute / Linnaeus University and Global Reporting Sweden AB, to organize the international training program you are offering.

This program should contribute to the development of mechanisms for self-regulation of the media sector, strengthening institutional and organizational capacities for such self-regulation. Persons interested in the effective functioning of the media should contribute to the implementation of national reforms and begin the process of change in the entire media space.

The media have the opportunity to actively participate in public life, hold accountable, be a platform for dialogue and protect the rights of individual citizens. But in order for the media to fulfill this important role, it is necessary to create an updated regulatory framework adapted to the new conditions of their existence.

Goals

The main goal is to create conditions for program participants and their organizations to promote and ensure the institutional processes governing media self-regulation.

Upon completion of the program, participants and their organizations should receive the following benefits:

Design Cycle Schedule

The program covers 14 months and consists of 5 stages, related to development by project participants transformations.

Target Group

As the program seeks to ensure gender balance among participants, organizations are strongly encouraged to nominate women candidates.

Eligible Countries

Representatives of the following countries are invited to participate in the program: Ukraine, Moldova, Armenia

Language Requirements

Since the program has a pronounced regional character and provides for the joint work of colleagues from different countries, the working language of this stage of the program is supposed to be Russian. Applicants must be fluent in Russian both verbally and in writing.
