Applications are now open for the 17th Journalism Award which aims to encourage, recognize and value the work of journalists in Brazil and countries in South and Central America and the Caribbean, who promote, through media reports, topics related to the agribusiness, involving aspects such as the sector’s production, technology, and development, as well as topics that interfere directly or indirectly in the economic development.
The Journalism Award, which completes 17 years in 2018, is a cultural contest, free, with no registration fees or product or services purchase promoted by AGCO do Brasil Máquinas e Equipamentos Agrícolas LTDA.
Categories and Prizes
To participate in the cultural competition, the Journalism Award, the following is necessary:
- Brazil
- Printed Newspaper Category
- Upon registration, visit the website and upload the digital copy of the story published in the print edition of the newspaper; the copy must be clear and provide the newspaper name and date of publication. If the page is colored, the copy should be colored.
- Prizes:
- 1st place – R $ 15,000.00 (fifteen thousand Reais)
- 2nd place: a tablet
- 3rd place: a smartphone
- Printed Magazine Category
- Upon registration, visit the website and upload the digital copy of the story published in the print edition of the magazine; the copy must be clear and provide the magazine name and date of publication. If the page is colored, the copy should be colored.

- TV Category
- Upon registration, visit the website and upload the video of the story or file with a digital copy of the material broadcast on television, work name and authorship (as contained in the Registration Form) and digital copy of the statement, in writing, from the editorial board of the media stating the date of broadcast.

- Multimedia Category
- Upon registration, visit the website and upload the story or file with a digital copy of the article published on the website or application, in which the name of the media, date of publication, and email address of the home page on the Internet are visible. Stories that prioritize the use of multimedia features, such as audio and video, with up to 5 minutes, created for websites or applications on mobile devices, such as tablets and smartphones, will be valued. This category includes radio material.

- Photojournalism Category
- Digital copy of the page where the photo was published and digital copy of the photo with a minimum resolution of 300 dpi. The digital copy of the page should be clear, with the media name and date of publication. If the page is colored, the copy should be colored. Pictures with changed elements, added or deleted by image editing programs will be eliminated. Only treatment filters normally used in editing and involving no change of reality will be accepted. The photo will be evaluated according to the context of the content.

- Student category stories or photographs produced for a subject or printed lab-newspaper, magazine, radio, magazine, the Internet or TV, created by college students, journalism courses or schools recognized by MEC. Also, applications from journalism students that enroll their work published during their internship in journalism firms will also be accepted within the period for story publication.

- 1st place – R$ 7,000.00 (seven thousand Reais), publication of the story in the Campo Aberto newsletter and posting of electronic material on the website maintained by AGCO DO BRASIL.

- Other countries of South, Central America and the Caribbean (Antigua and Barbuda, Argentina, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominica, El Salvador, Ecuador, Grenada, Guatemala, Guyana, Guyana, Haiti, Honduras, Jamaica, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Dominican Republic, St. Lucia, St. Kitts and Nevis, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago, Uruguay and Venezuela).

- In the South and Central America and the Caribbean category, stories or photos published by journalists residing in the above countries, between from September 5th, 2017 to July 2nd, 2018 in printed newspaper, printed magazine, radio, Internet or TV may compete.
- Prizes:
- 1st place: a trip of five (05) days for two to Porto de Galinhas, Pernambuco, Brazil.

- In the South and Central America and the Caribbean category, stories or photos published by journalists residing in the above countries, between from September 5th, 2017 to July 2nd, 2018 in printed newspaper, printed magazine, radio, Internet or TV may compete.
Eligibility Criteria
- Work written in Portuguese, Spanish and English, published in the media with headquarters or branches in countries of South and Central America and the Caribbean are entitled to compete.
- Works related to the agribusiness, productive activity, technology and developments in the industry, interviews with professionals or events in Brazil or abroad related to the objectives may compete.
- Only work that has been regularly registered in the period from March 5th, 2017 to July 2nd, 2018, may compete. The registration notification sent to the e-mail address registered by the applicant upon registration will be considered confirmation of registration.
- Journalistic works written by one or more media professionals (regardless of having a media-related diploma), published in newspapers, magazines, television stations, radio stations, websites, and portals, proven to be journalistic pieces, may compete in the text, video, photo and/or multimedia categories. The publication date is from September 5th, 2017 to July 2nd, 2018.
- In the case of works signed by more than one author, the registration will be allowed only on behalf of one of the professionals who will be responsible for the story. Other authors will receive credit for their participation in the work, but in case of an award, only the member who enrolled the story shall be entitled to the prize.
- Journalists in Brazil and countries in South and Central America and the Caribbean are eligible to apply for this award.
