#fellowship

Deadline: 14-Nov-2025

The National Press Photographers Foundation (NPPF) is pleased to announce its Michel du Cille Fellowship Program to encourage photojournalists to cover topics of great importance in today’s changing world.

Recipients are expected to submit a completed work that represents a substantive, in-depth exploration of their project. NPPF will provide a coordinator for the du Cille recipient to update their progress at least once a month, and the coordinator will be available upon request to assist in completing the project.

The fellowship provides $15,000 to complete a visual documentary project, and NPPF will assign a coordinator to check in with recipients monthly. The fellowship is open to professional photojournalists who are legally residing in or legally authorized to work in Puerto Rico, United States, or the United States Minor Outlying Islands.

Applicants are required to submit their name, date of birth, permanent address, personal email address, and personal mobile phone number. A concise bio highlighting professional experience and commitment to completing a project of consequence must also be included, along with a CV containing 2-3 professional references with names, email addresses, and phone numbers.

Applicants must provide a project title, a project description or summary of fewer than 2,500 characters including spaces, and a project proposal of fewer than 4,000 characters including spaces explaining the planned project and a brief timeline including how the grant will be used. Visual submissions may include up to 24 still images for photography-only applications or 2-3 videos of less than 10 minutes each for video applications. Example entries may consist of two stories of 12 images or fewer each, one story of 12 images or fewer plus one video under 10 minutes, or 2-3 video stories under 10 minutes each.

Digital images must be in .JPG format with 3000 pixels on the long side. IPTC fields are required, including caption, city/state, date the image was made, creator/photographer, and copyright. Photographers must not include their name in captions. Stories must include a short description in the first image.

The application deadline for the 2025 Michel du Cille Fellowship is Friday, November 14, 2025, at 4:59 PM ET.
