The Open Society Institute – Assistance Foundation in Tajikistan (OSIAF) has announced a competition for grants for the development of new media formats.
The goal is to promote the sustainable development of media in new, digital formats of interaction with the audience, support the professional growth of journalists and media activists, and improve the work of digital editorial offices.
Priority Areas
The priority areas of the competition are:
- support of strategies for the transition of mass media (mass media) to new digital formats of interaction with the audience, development and adaptation of sustainable development models (business plan) and monetization of the work of online editions. Within this priority, the budget of the application should not exceed 100,000 somoni.
- Realization of the strategic role of the media and civil activists in countering the spread of disinformation and manipulation, in reducing corruption and social inequality, by supporting the conduct of journalistic investigations and the publication of analytical materials based on facts. Within this priority, the budget of the application should not exceed 100,000 somoni.
- conducting educational events aimed at the professional development of journalists and public activists in the use of digital and other relevant media formats. Within the framework of this priority, the budget of the application should not exceed 50,000 somoni.
- localization and adaptation of educational materials, web and mobile applications on multimedia and digital media tools, digital literacy and information verification. Within the framework of this priority, the budget of the application should not exceed 50,000 somoni.
Eligibility Criteria
- The following are invited to participate in the competition: individual media activists, bloggers, initiative groups of journalists, civil society organizations and the media, including commercial ones, interested in strengthening their work on digital platforms.
Evaluation Criteria
The applications received within the framework of the competition will be evaluated according to the following criteria:
- a clear goal in accordance with the priority of the competition, the relevance and realism of the implementation of the assigned tasks;
- availability of innovative solutions (web and mobile applications), with elements of social impact;
- for online editions, a plan for further sustainable development, taking into account the mechanisms of monetization;
- experience and potential in the implementation of similar projects, presentation of the results of previous work and success stories, if any;
- compliance of the budget with the planned events and the requirements of the competition, the quality and completeness of the application.
