People in Need (PIN) is looking for local organizations that are interested to learn more about media literacy and non-formal education methodologies, and then share this information in a series of workshops with their members or clients. The workshop participants will then have the opportunity to apply for a small grant to make their own media project with professional support.
The project aims to select 10 nonprofit organizations and youth houses from the following regions: Imereti, Samegrelo, Kvemo Kartli, Samtskhe-Javakheti. The ideal organization should have experience working with at least one of these target audiences: youth, women, ethnic minorities, or/and elderly groups.
PIN is a Czech international, non-profit organization working to protect human rights and democratic freedom in crisis regions all over the world, while also providing relief aid and development assistance. The activities of the organization are focused on four major areas: emergency relief and cooperation for development; support for human rights; social integration programs; educational and informational programs.
Capacity Building Component
- Selected regional organizations will be trained in media literacy and fight against disinformation using the documentary film methodology.
- Training of Trainers, documentaries, and workshop materials are available in Armenian, Azerbaijani and Georgian languages.
Grant Component
- Following successful completion of the training, organizations will have the chance to apply for funds to implement the People in Need’s documentary film and media literacy project in their own municipalities.
- With these funds, they will be expected to arrange 10 workshops for local target groups with approximately 20 participants per session. PIN Georgia will provide training materials.
Eligibility Criteria
- The competition is open to youth houses and non-profit organizations(LAG) operating in Imereti, Samegrelo, Kvemo Kartli, and Samtskhe-Javakheti that work with one of these target audiences: youth, women, ethnic minorities, or/and elderly groups.
- The ideal candidate should have:
- At least 1 year of experience in implementing non-formal educational projects; Experience working with documentary films will be an advantage.
- At least two staff who will facilitate workshops following training.
- Appropriate experience in grant management (reporting, financial management, etc.).
- Motivation and organizational readiness to continue to use the OWIS methodology and media literacy module after the project is completed.
