Request for Proposals: Beijing and Beyond – Documenting India’s Feminist Journey (India)

Deadline: 30-Oct-2025

The Beijing-and-Beyond has arisen for an organization to undertake a comprehensive project documenting India’s feminist movement related to the Beijing process through archival research, oral histories, multimedia production, and public engagement.

The project focuses on several key activities. These include conducting extensive archival research using institutional archives, media records, civil society documents, and official reports. In addition, it involves conducting and recording in-depth oral history interviews with a select group of activists, policymakers, and grassroots leaders who have shaped India’s feminist agenda at Beijing. The project also requires establishing and consulting with an expert advisory group comprising feminist scholars and activists relevant to the Beijing process to ensure the outputs are inclusive, credible, and historically accurate.

In terms of multimedia, the organization will produce three thematic short films, each approximately five minutes in length, as well as one overall film of about thirty minutes that synthesizes insights and footage collected throughout the project. Alongside film production, the organization will develop creative publications, including one for key events like CSW 2026, a graphic output designed for youth audiences, and short vignettes or factsheets for social media dissemination.

A public engagement campaign will be designed and implemented to share all multimedia outputs through both online and offline platforms, ensuring wide accessibility and impact. Furthermore, all collected materials will be consolidated into a master publication or digital archive for long-term public access and preservation.

The budget range for this proposal should be [INR 36,00,000 to INR 42,00,000] (Min. – Max.) The budget range for this proposal should range between Rupees thirty-six lakhs to forty two Lakhs. The timeframe for completing the required services spans from December 2025 to April 2026. Each deliverable will be reviewed and approved within two weeks by UN Women to maintain quality and alignment with project objectives.

The Team Leader will be accountable for the overall direction, quality assurance, coordination, and timely delivery of all outputs. Essential competencies for this role include strategic leadership to guide the vision and creative direction in line with UN Women’s objectives, technical expertise in multimedia production, oral history methods, archival research, and visual storytelling. The Team Leader must demonstrate a strong feminist and inclusive approach, with deep knowledge of feminist movements and gender equality frameworks in India, alongside effective project and team management skills. Communication and stakeholder engagement abilities are also critical for reporting progress, facilitating reviews, and incorporating feedback from partners.

Supporting team members such as researchers, documentarians, and editors will assist with production and documentation activities under the Team Leader’s supervision. These team members should possess technical skills in multimedia production, oral history, archival research, or visual storytelling. They must maintain high standards of quality and timeliness while demonstrating an understanding of feminist and gender frameworks, particularly within the Indian context. Inclusive field engagement skills are necessary to work respectfully with marginalized communities, ensuring authentic and representative voices. Collaboration, accountability, and the ability to respond constructively to feedback are also important attributes for the team.

This project represents a unique chance to preserve and amplify the voices and histories of India’s feminist movement through innovative multimedia storytelling and archival documentation.
