Apply for Finding Freedom Exhibition: Making Human Rights Activism More Creative

Call for Proposals for 2022 Local Transformation Projects - Egypt

Deadline: 1 June 2017

The Asylum Seeker Resource Centre and Amnesty International along with their ARTillery team are currently inviting applicants for its Finding Freedom Exhibition from all ages (Youth and Open categories) which are aspirational about what they want to create for people seeking asylum rather than the harm they seek to eliminate; artworks should reflect positive values, be solutions oriented and above all humanize people seeking asylum.

Artworks should focus on the following ideas:

ARTillery has partnered with Brisbane-based artist Hesam Fetrati to help them raise awareness about the treatment of refugees and people seeking asylum by the Australian government.

It is seeking artworks which reflect the kind of shared future that is possible if they open their hearts and minds to people in search of safety; welcoming people with open arms; including people in a richly diverse and vibrant community; supporting people to flourish, thrive and prosper in a way that will mean life is better for everyone, no matter who they are, where they come from or what they look like. They are asking applicants to be creative and DREAM – share their vision for what seeking asylum will look like in Australia, in the years to come if they treat others the way they would want to be treated.

Prizes

First, second and third prizes will be awarded in each category (six awards) and an additional six highly commended awards granted. Prize money will be donated by local sponsors of the competition and not awarded from ASRC or Amnesty. The judges’ decisions will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.
