The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) Representation in the Nordic and Baltic States is inviting non-governmental organizations to submit a proposal on “Promotion of support for beneficiaries of international protection, monitoring and provision of legal assistance to asylum seekers and persons with international protection in Latvia”.

Objective

All refugees and asylum-seekers in Latvia have access to fair and efficient asylum procedures, quality reception systems, and will benefit from policies and practices that facilitate integration and naturalization in line with international and European protection standards.

Expected Outcome

Asylum-seekers in Latvia have access to fair and efficient asylum procedures and adequate reception conditions, which are AGD sensitive. Beneficiaries of international protection benefit from policies and practices that facilitate inclusion and their participation.

Expected Output

Persons seeking international protection benefit from protection sensitive border procedures and reception conditions, which are AGD-sensitive and in line with international standards, supported through independent monitoring. Authorities and Courts further improve fairness and efficiency of asylum procedures in line with the 1951 Convention and international protection standards. Asylum-seekers and refugees have access to the quality legal aid provided from the onset of asylum procedures through strengthened networks of lawyers and NGO legal service providers.
