Do you know of an up and coming researcher who stands head and shoulders above their peers; a researcher who has made a meaningful contribution to SA’s research environment and/or the development of the next generation of researchers; or an individual who has made an extraordinary contribution to the development of science in and for South Africa over an extended period of time? If yes, then apply for the NRF Awards 2019.
Nominations are now open for the Special Award Categories of the 2019 NRF Awards. The awards not only celebrate the hard work of individual researchers, but also benefit the awardees’ institutions by growing its status among its local and international peers.
Categories
The categories are as follows:
- Lifetime Achievement Award (includes a R500 000 grant)
- Research Excellence Award for Next Generation Researchers (includes a R50 000 travel grant for international conference attendance)
- Research Excellence Award for Early Career/Emerging Researchers (includes a R50 000 travel grant for international conference attendance)
- Hamilton Naki Award (includes R200 000 research grant)
- Champion of Research Capacity Development and Transformation at South African Higher Education Institutions (includes R300 000 research grant)
- Excellence in Science Communication (includes attendance at AAAS conference)
