Call for Proposals: Fritt Ord Fund (Norway)

Micro-Grants for Legal Compliance Support for Women-Led/Serving CSOs in Chitral (Pakistan)

Deadline: 31-Oct-2025

Applicants are now invited to submit applications for the Fritt Ord Fund to support for projects that help promote freedom of expression, public discourse, art and culture.

Applications will be reviewed in two rounds, with those requesting more than NOK 100,000 addressed first.

Eligible projects include events, books, media and journalism, films, dramatic art, photography, podcasts, art projects, exhibitions, international projects and organisations, scholarships/grants, libraries, and academic research.

To apply to Fritt Ord for support, applicants must complete a short application form and attach a detailed project description, a budget and funding plan, a CV, and any other requisite information. The project description is the most important document and should be two to eight pages long, clearly and concisely explaining the project.

The budget and funding plan must detail project costs, self-financing, anticipated revenues, other pledged support, and other pending applications. The digital application form must be completed in full, with all required fields—including a brief project description, details of how the support will be used, and a timetable—filled in. These fields are limited to 500 characters each, and applicants are encouraged to use the full space.

PDF is the standard format for uploaded documents; Excel files are not accepted and must be converted to PDF prior to submission. Applicants may submit one copy of physical attachments, such as published books, booklets, or DVDs, which will not be returned unless requested.

Responses will be sent directly by email, and a list of granted applications will be published on the Fritt Ord Foundation’s website. The deadline for submission is Friday, 31 October 2025, at 3 p.m., with replies expected in December.
