Deadline: 25-Aug-2025
The Residency Open Call for Italian Artists offers early-career artists based in Italy a chance to grow professionally through a fully funded eleven-week residency at Gasworks in London, running from 7 January to 23 March 2026.
Gasworks welcomes around twenty international artists each year. The residency is self-led and process-based, allowing participants to explore, create, and connect within a vibrant London arts community. While the organization offers administrative and curatorial support, artists are responsible for driving their own research and work.
The selected artist will be provided with a private, fully accessible studio space and accommodation in a shared residency house. Travel expenses, including return economy flights and local transfers, are covered. The program also includes visa support, a £150 weekly stipend, an £800 materials budget, and unlimited public transport within central London.
During the residency, artists will benefit from studio visits with professionals, access to tools and AV equipment, and the opportunity to showcase their work in an Open Studio event on 14 March. Gasworks will also feature the artist’s profile and a video interview on its website.
Eligible applicants must be early-career visual artists based in Italy with moderate English-speaking skills. Selection is handled by a panel from Gasworks and external advisors, prioritizing applicants who have not previously worked in London and who demonstrate strong artistic potential.
Applicants must submit a single PDF file including a cover sheet, two 250-word statements (one about artistic practice and another about residency plans), up to 15 images or media links of recent work, a CV of no more than three pages, and any relevant supporting documents. The file must not exceed 10MB in size.
