Residency Open Call for Palestinian Artists

Residency Open Call for Artists based in the Philippines

Deadline: 12-Jan-2026

The Gasworks has announced applications for an eleven-week, fully funded residency in London from 7 July to 21 September 2026, specifically for emerging and mid-career Palestinian artists based anywhere in the world.

Their residencies programme supports professional development, cultural exchange, and artistic experimentation. They host up to twenty residencies each year, bringing artists from all over the world to London. All their residencies are self-led, non-prescriptive and process-based; they are about enabling artists to research and develop new work, engage with the city, and build their networks. They provide administrative, pastoral, and curatorial support throughout the residency, but they expect residents to be self-motivated, and to lead on the research and production of their own work, during their time with them.

The residency offers the selected artist 24-hour access to a fully accessible private studio at Gasworks, single-room accommodation in the Residency House, economy return flights, visa costs and application support, a weekly stipend, a materials budget, and a prepaid travel card for unlimited travel within central London. Participants will also benefit from studio visits with Gasworks staff, curators, artists, and educational groups, as well as networking opportunities, an open studio event on 12 September 2026, and a dedicated residency page on Gasworks’ website.

Eligibility is open to emerging and mid-career contemporary visual artists based in Palestine or Palestinian artists living elsewhere. Applicants should be comfortable discussing their work in English, and the residency is subject to visa approval. The selection process includes a review by a panel of representatives from Gasworks and external advisors, with shortlisted artists invited to online interviews before the final decision.

Gasworks emphasizes accessibility and encourages applications from artists of all backgrounds. The residency is limited to individual artists, and while partners or children cannot be accommodated in Gasworks housing, artists may still apply if they arrange their own family logistics. Applications are accepted digitally only, with a single PDF file containing a cover sheet, statements of artistic practice and residency plans, portfolio materials, CV, and supporting documents.

The deadline for applications is 12 January 2026 at 1pm UK time. Online interviews with shortlisted candidates will take place the week beginning 26 January 2026, and the successful applicant will be notified the following week.
