Submit Applications for ACORCA’s Small Grant Programme

CFPs: West Africa Research Ecosystem Assessment Scorecard Program

Deadline: 20-Jul-2025

The Africa Coalition for Research & Communication on Abortion (ACORCA) has launched its Small Grant Programme to support early-career scholars working on abortion research in Africa. The program offers financial assistance and mentorship to promising researchers.

Each grantee will receive $3,500 USD over a period of four months. They will be paired with an ACORCA advisor as well as a supervisor from their home institution. Additionally, grantees will benefit from webinars, toolkits, writing workshops, and peer review opportunities to enhance their skills.

Eligible applicants include early-career PhD researchers who have completed their degrees within the last five years or current PhD candidates at the dissertation stage. Applicants must be affiliated with African universities or research institutes. The research focus should be on abortion issues in Africa.

The selection criteria emphasize relevance and originality of the research, methodological rigor, potential contribution to policy, commitment to dissemination, and diversity considerations. To apply, candidates must submit a completed application form, a three-page project proposal, a CV of no more than two pages, a letter of support from their supervisor, proof of PhD completion or candidacy, and a budget summary.
