8th Sustainable Urban Mobility Planning (SUMP) Award

Visual Arts Bursary Award in Ireland

Deadline: 31 October 2019

Nominations are now open for “Sustainable Urban Mobility Planning (SUMP) Award” to encourage the adoption of SUMPs by local authorities across Europe and to reward outstanding achievements in each year’s thematic priority area.

Theme

The 8th SUMP Award focuses on safe walking and cycling, which ties into this year’s EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK theme. The award focuses on the integration of safe active mobility in sustainable urban mobility planning.

This covers the development and promotion of walking and cycling as urban transport modes and the improvement of safety for pedestrians and cyclists Political or high-level representatives of the three finalists will be invited to attend the award ceremony, which takes place in March/April 2020 in Brussels. The winner will receive a trophy from the hand of the EU Commissioner for transport.

The winner will receive a professional video clip highlighting the inclusion of safe walking and cycling in the local transport system. Shorter video clips emphasising the achievements of the finalists will be presented at the award ceremony.

The winner and the two finalists will benefit from visibility at the European level. This includes case studies on the Eltis portal and recommendations to invite the winner and finalists to participate as speakers in relevant events such as the European Commission’s Urban Mobility Conference.

Benefits

All finalists will be invited to attend the award ceremony in Brussels in spring 2020. The travel and accommodation costs will be covered by the EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK budget.
