Entries open for the Benjamin Franklin House Literary Prize 2026 (UK)

CEI Award for Young Writers: Call for Applications 2023 open!

Deadline: 19-Nov-2025

The Benjamin Franklin Literary Prize invites aspiring young writers to share their voices and creativity in a competitive and celebratory environment.

The award ceremony at the historic Benjamin Franklin House offers a memorable occasion for young writers to connect with peers, meet judges, and see their work displayed, fostering both inspiration and recognition. Moreover, being published on prominent platforms such as Benjamin Franklin House and the Telegraph gives emerging writers the opportunity to reach wider audiences and establish their presence in the literary world.

By inviting young writers to interpret Franklin’s words and relate them to contemporary society, the competition encourages reflection on enduring values and ideas that continue to resonate today. This intersection of historical perspective and modern relevance challenges participants to think critically, engage creatively, and communicate effectively through their writing.

The winner and runner-up will also receive their prize money, with a first prize of £750, and a second prize of £500, and see their work published online at Benjamin Franklin House and The Telegraph. Beyond the prize money and publication, participants will benefit from engagement with a community that celebrates literary talent and innovation.

This literary prize presents a unique opportunity for writers between 18 and 25 years old in the UK to have their work recognized and celebrated on a national platform. With a focus on both fiction and non-fiction, entrants are encouraged to explore creativity, narrative skill, and thoughtful reflection inspired by Benjamin Franklin’s legacy.

The deadline for applications is 19 November 2025.
