The LUGAR PRESENTE has announced the LUGAR FUTURO Festival, celebrating young artists through premieres of new dance works by national and international choreographers, as well as debut pieces by emerging talents.
Now in its sixth edition, the Lugar Futuro Festival has solidified its reputation as an international hub connecting professional and educational spheres of dance. The festival takes place across Teatro Viriato, the IPDJ Auditorium, and Lugar Presente, with support from the Municipality of Viseu and the Direção-Geral das Artes.
The four day program will consist of performances, film screenings, masterclasses, and public discussions fostering exchange among young choreographers and dancers, collaborations with national and international dance schools and festivals, presentation of debut works by emerging artists, and initiatives that strengthen connections between dance education and the professional world while promoting contemporary dance awareness.
Creators or groups residing in Portugal will receive €500, travel support within Portugal up to €50 per person, along with accommodation and food in Viseu. For creators or groups residing abroad, the grant includes €500, international travel support up to a global limit of €500, transfers from Porto airport to Viseu and back, plus accommodation and food in Viseu.
The highlight of this edition will be the presentation of six “first works,” a selection of pieces by young choreographers chosen from hundreds of applications received from dozens of countries. This segment showcases the diversity, creativity, and originality of emerging voices in contemporary dance.
