UN Women Rwanda Country Office is seeking proposals from potential Implementing Partners/Responsible Parties to equip young women and girls with skills in digital literacy, STEM; entrepreneurship, Leadership and mentorship and ensuring they have pathways to employment after the program.
The proposed interventions must contribute to the following outcome: “Young people in Rwanda have increased access to decent jobs”
Under the One UN Youth Joint Programme, UN Women is seeking an Implementing partner to:
- Empower young women and girls in digital literacy and STEM (Science, technology, Engineering and Mathematics) and
- Empower young women and girls in Entrepreneurship and Leadership, Effective communication, and mentorship.
The ultimate goal deliverables is to allow girls to meet the labor market demands and ensuring they have pathways to employment after the program.
- The partner should submit a training module/ manual on ICT/STEM and/or in life skills including entrepreneurship, mentorship, and leadership.
- The Partner will ensure 50% of the total program graduates have gained job placement, apprenticeship program, or advanced training after the graduation
- The most vulnerable women and girls will be equipped with laptops devices
Duration
The concept note must be inscribed within the duration of this activity that is 6 months starting from 27 May 2022 up to 27 November 2022, including 3 months of training and 3 months of the apprenticeship program, placement and/or advanced training after graduation.
Competencies:
Organizations or institutions submitting a proposal are required to demonstrate the following competencies/meet the following criteria:
- Reputation of Organization and Staff:
- Documented successful track record (Adequate number of professional staff with adequate qualifications and experience (for newly formed organizations, the personnel to be assigned to the UN Women project should have a proven track record of five years in the relevant subject matters).
- A proven commitment to results (able to provide records of successful projects)
- Proven credibility in the country or region in terms of working towards gender equality, community outreach on behavior change to address social and cultural norms perpetuating gender inequalities and discrimination, or proven experience in women’s economic empowerment depending on the output results that the submitting organization would like to address.
- Proven credibility in the country or region in terms of working towards STEM/ICT, or proven experience in Gender Equality, Youth empowerment depending on the output results that the submitting organization would like to address.
- General Organizational Capability:
- Strength of project management on creating or managing knowledge networks, convening a wide range of stakeholders, and generating policy advice.
- Track record of working with governments, civil society, UN, and other major multilateral or bilateral actors.
- Record and evidence of organizational culture of accountability, such as a written code of conduct, measures on anti-corruption and sexual harassment policy.
- A track record of delivering quality and timely project results.
- Clearly outlined organizational governance and management structures.
- Organizational expertise in the area of specified program:
- Evidence that the organization has previous experience and expertise of successfully managing projects of the same nature, related to youth empowerment in STEM and entrepreneurship, mentorship, leadership ship.
- Accountability and Financial Control:
- A functioning internal control framework and process to deliver quality and timely project results.
- Evidence of written and transparent financial and administrative rules and regulations.
- A key system for procurement, subcontracting, with appropriate checks and balances.
