Applications are open for Young Filmmakers Competition that is part of the #EUandME campaign, which aims to show how EU legislation and initiatives can enable applicants to pursue their passions.
Categories
Entries can be submitted in one of five categories:
- Mobility
- Sustainability
- Skills & business
- Digital
- Rights
Winning Entries
- Each of the 5 winners will be awarded with a grant of €7,500 to realise their films.
- Acceptance of the grant obliges each winner to realise their film based on their winning entry.
- The 5 selected films must be completed and delivered before 30 April 2019. The films must be no longer than 5 minutes.
- In case a winner fails to do so, they are obliged to refund the grant to the European Union.
- The winning films will be published on the #EUandME campaign’s website and will be offered to leading national media for publication.
- The 5 winning films will be screened during an Awards ceremony that will take place as of June 2019.
Eligibility Criteria
- The competition is open to citizens of the 28 EU Member States.
- Applicants can only participate as an individual; group entries will not be considered.
- Participants must be aged 18 to 35 years.
- Participants must be a resident of an EU Member State.
- Winners will be required to provide proof of their citizenship and age before prizes are awarded (a copy of a valid passport or ID). Failure to do so may result in exclusion from the competition.
- Participants must already have made at least one short film in the past. They must include a link to a short film they have made in their application.
- Persons connected with the organisation of this competition, including persons working for the European Union institutions, are excluded from participating.
- Participants are required to use their real name and details, and may not submit an entry on behalf of a third party without that party’s express written consent.
- The European Commission accepts no responsibility for entries that are lost, corrupted, or incorrectly submitted, howsoever caused.
- The European Commission or any other organisation operating on its behalf, will under no circumstance whatsoever irrespective of the cause therefore, be liable for any and all loss, harm, damage or personal injury to the winner or third parties nor to property or else, cost or expense whatsoever caused or suffered in connection with this competition.
- The Commission or any other organisation operating on its behalf are not responsible if the competition cannot take place or if any prize/grant cannot be awarded due to travel cancellations, delays or interruptions due to force majeure. The Commission cannot be held responsible for any costs incurred by applicants in participating in the competition (whether or not such entry is successful).
How to Apply
Applicants must submit their idea for a short film by completing the online application form given on the website.
