The Comparative Research Programme on Poverty (CROP) is currently seeking applications for its International Studies in Poverty Prize 2016 with an aim to recognise works challenging the dominant thinking and knowledge about poverty and providing sound contributions to the eradication and/or prevention of poverty in our world.
CROP (Comparative Research Programme on Poverty) was established with a secretariat in Bergen in 1993 in order to promote social science research that theorises and provides understanding of poverty in a global context and has two institutional sponsors, the University of Bergen (UiB) and the International Social Science Council (ISSC).
The overarching vision of CROP is “a world without poverty” and its mission is to work in collaboration with knowledge networks, institutions and scholars to build independent, alternative and critical knowledge and education on poverty, and to help shape policies for preventing and eradicating poverty.
Prize Information: The winner of the CROP International Studies in Poverty Prize 2016 will receive the equivalent of NOK 50 000.

Eligibility Criteria
- Poverty must be the central focus.
- Innovative proposals are accepted from all disciplines of the Social Sciences and the Humanities.
- A proposal should be original and written in the English Language.
- Submissions will undergo a blind, fair and unbiased review by a panel of international judges.
