EU-Dominican Republic Call for Proposals: EIDHR – European Instrument for Democracies and Human Rights

The European Union (EU) is currently accepting proposals for its EIDHR – European Instrument for Democracies and Human Rights – Local call for proposals in the Dominican Republic.

The overall objective of this call for proposals is to support civil society, activists for democracy and human rights defenders in partner countries in their work on human rights (political, civil, economic, social and cultural) and democratization.

The specific objective of this call for proposals is to support proposals that seek to promote, protect and monitor respect for human rights in all its aspects, political and civil, economic, social and cultural rights, in line with the Plan of Action of the European Union on Human Rights and Democracy. In accordance with the Regulation establishing the European Instrument for Democracy and Human Rights, proposals must apply a Rights-Based Approach that integrates due attention to all human rights. The principles of: i) legality, universality and indivisibility of human rights, ii) participation, iii) non-discrimination, iv) accountability and v) transparency must be applied in all phases of the life cycle of the project from the identification, formulation, implementation, monitoring and even evaluation. Therefore, all proposals submitted to this call must be designed with this approach in mind.

The call for proposals in the Dominican Republic contributes to the implementation of the National Plan for Human Rights of the Dominican Republic 2018-2020 presented by the Dominican Government in December 2018.
