Arab Council for the Social Sciences has announced its fourth session of the research grants on the subject of “environmentalism, impoverishment and social justice movements: multidisciplinary approaches” program. The Arab Council for the Social Sciences program provides funding to support multi-disciplinary research methodology and different approaches to the main topics related to the Arab region.
Focus Topics
The following topics can be addressed in the proposals
- Interaction between environmental, political and economic factors in shaping and reshaping the conditions of life, including the displacement and marginalization and declining development situations
- The allocation of resources (especially the scarce resources such as water) which generates new environments shaped by political factors as much as shaped by factors “natural”
- Relations between development policies and environmental impacts and the welfare of communities
- Issues related to environmental justice: any equity-related, or distribution of the injured and environmental benefits, while recognizing the diversity of the communities affected, according to the experiences of class, gender, age and other factors
- The relationship between the environment and the deterioration of the violence
- Dimensions of the cadastral Aikolojiat new areas, such as the production of- the refugee camps, and the no-fly zones, safe areas, nature reserves and protected sites, etc
- Political processes that generate and manage policies for sustainability and environmental approaches
- Global merits and transboundary environmental change, environmental disasters and social movements ecological
- The relationship between the human world and other worlds
- The links between employment and labor and the environment, with special attention Gendered nature of these relationships
- For science, technology and concepts of nature, and the ways in which these perceptions affect the understanding of risk and trust
- Education and ecological justice (Ecojustice education) and the development of pedagogy aimed at the conservation and preservation of cultural and biological diversity in ecosystems
- Urban and rural environments changing, including the changing forms of land tenure and ownership

Grant Information
The value of each grant is up to $ 20,000 maximum, to continue to grant a period of time not to exceed 18 months.
Eligibility Criteria
- Naturalisation and Residency: Researchers from the Arab country or currently reside (any of the residents in the region for a long time, even if they do not enjoy any nationality such as refugees.) The grant is open to researchers, who have Arab origins, but they are staying outside, but preference is given to researchers who are currently in the region.
- Degree: Applicants for grants should hold a doctoral degree in a social science fields or to obtain a doctorate degree by January 2017. In particular, they encourage individual researchers who are in the early stages of their careers after obtaining a doctoral degree.
- Scientific field: Any field of the social sciences fields and fields associated with them. It includes the Arab Council of Social Sciences, the definition of basic social sciences such as anthropology (anthropology) and demography, economics, history and political science, psychology and sociology. And it includes branches associated art, architecture, geography, law, literature, linguistics, philosophy and public health. Include multi – disciplinary fields of gender / gender studies, cultural studies, development studies, media studies, urban studies.
