Applications open for SWAP Fund (UK)

Call for Applications: AL-Invest Green Program 2025

Deadline: 17-Oct-2025

The Cheshire Police and Crime Commissioner is inviting local groups and organisations to apply for the SWAP Fund, a community initiative that reinvests money seized from the proceeds of crime back into local communities for positive impact.

SWAP, which stands for Safety, Working together, Action and Prevention, is designed to support projects that address one or more of these priorities, with particular emphasis on prevention and early intervention. Grants of up to £5,000 are available, although applicants are encouraged to apply only for the amount they genuinely need rather than automatically requesting the maximum.

The fund aims to support projects that align with the priorities set out in the Commissioner’s Police and Crime Plan. This includes initiatives that support children and young people, such as holiday clubs, youth activities or engagement programmes; projects that promote wellbeing through sports, leisure or arts to enhance physical and mental health across all age groups; efforts to reduce isolation and promote inclusion, particularly for marginalised or under-represented communities; and programmes focused on early intervention and prevention, such as mentoring, skills development, crime prevention activities or specialist support designed to steer people away from offending.

Eligibility is open to a wide range of not-for-profit organisations, including charities, social enterprises, neighbourhood groups, community organisations, and “friends of” groups. Applicants must demonstrate a clear community benefit in their constitution or governing documents and have two unrelated signatories on their bank account. Schools may apply if they meet these criteria, and Parish Councils may also access the fund where there is proven local need and a clear partnership approach. While public bodies, including the Police, cannot apply directly, they are encouraged to work in partnership with community groups to develop and submit applications.
