Deadline: 09-Feb-2026
The Partnership for a Strong Ukraine is inviting proposals to support the reintegration and protection of war-affected children in Ukrainian-controlled territories through transitional justice–informed child protection initiatives, with grants of up to UAH 5.67 million and a 15-month implementation period.
Program Overview
The Partnership for a Strong Ukraine (PSU) has launched a competitive funding call to strengthen the resilience of the Ukrainian government amid ongoing Russian aggression by supporting local child protection responses in close coordination with state authorities, civil society, media, and the private sector.
The focus of this competition is the reintegration and protection of war-affected children in Ukrainian-controlled territories, while simultaneously strengthening state policies, systems, and practices to prevent future violations of children’s rights.
Funding Details
Each selected project is expected to receive funding of approximately UAH 5,670,000, with flexibility for budget adjustments based on the scope, quality, and justification of proposed activities.
Projects will have an expected duration of 15 months.
Thematic Focus and Approach
Funded initiatives must apply a transitional justice approach to child protection, linking past and ongoing violations of children’s rights with immediate and long-term support measures.
Key areas of focus include strengthening institutional responses to war-related harm, improving identification and outreach to vulnerable children, and supporting reforms that address both urgent protection needs and structural gaps within state systems.
Eligible Activities
Supported projects are expected to contribute to:
Improved identification of war-affected and vulnerable children through coordinated outreach, education, and engagement with state and community actors.
Introduction or strengthening of case management approaches that enable comprehensive, coordinated, and child-centered responses to protection needs.
Enhanced capacity of state services to respond effectively to urgent child protection cases while maintaining accessibility and quality of services.
Development and strengthening of policies and practices that enable long-term child protection measures and institutional resilience beyond the project lifecycle.
Systemic improvements that align child protection responses with transitional justice principles, ensuring accountability and prevention of future rights violations.
Implementation and Partnerships
Implementing partners must work in close coordination with Ukrainian state authorities, contributing to durable reforms and improved service delivery frameworks.
Projects are expected to reinforce institutional sustainability, ensuring that reforms and practices introduced under the grant continue to benefit children after project completion.
Application Process and Timeline
An online pre-application workshop will be held on 7 January 2026 at 3:00 PM Kyiv time via Microsoft Teams, providing guidance on eligibility, proposal structure, and submission procedures.
Completed applications must be submitted electronically by 23:59 Kyiv time on 9 February 2026.
All proposals must be prepared in Ukrainian, using the specified templates and formats provided by the Partnership for a Strong Ukraine.
Conclusion
This funding opportunity offers substantial support for organisations seeking to strengthen child protection systems in Ukraine through a rights-based, transitional justice–informed approach.
By combining immediate assistance for war-affected children with long-term institutional reforms, the programme aims to deliver sustainable improvements that protect children’s rights and reinforce the resilience of state systems during and beyond the conflict.
