The Wolfson Foundation is accepting grant applications to support special schools and colleges for children and young people with special educational needs. They provide funding for projects that help secondary-level pupils develop skills to gain employment or live independently after school or college.
The grants aim to increase access to services for new and existing users at the secondary or post-16 level. They also focus on improving the quality and range of services, as well as enhancing the future sustainability of the organization.
Grant amounts usually range from £40,000 to £75,000, with a minimum grant of £25,000. Eligible projects include new buildings, refurbishment work, or equipment purchases. Projects must involve capital costs of at least £50,000 and have a shortfall in capital funding of at least £25,000.
Projects that are ineligible include playgrounds and play equipment, including sensory play, charities that lend equipment to individuals and families, and facilities for primary or pre-school children. Costs that cannot be covered include purchase of land or existing buildings, grants to individuals or through conduit organizations, overheads, maintenance, VAT, non-specific appeals, costs related to events, salary costs, running costs such as vehicle fuel, film or promotional materials, loan repayments, and projects already completed or completed before the award.
To apply, your organization should be a registered or exempt charity or a local authority. If applicable, it should have at least a ‘good’ rating from a regulator such as CQC or Ofsted.
