Integration Through Local Heritage Programme – UK

Architectural Heritage Fund Grant Programme – England (UK)

Deadline: 4-Apr-23

Applicants are invited to submit applications for the Integration Through Local Heritage Programme to encourage greater understanding and respect in children and young people through exploring/experiencing their local heritage.

History plays an important role in the formation of individual and community identity therefore this programme can create opportunities for young people in Integrated schools to experience, learn, explore and engage with their local heritage.

Young people could explore key moments in history that shaped their local towns and neighbourhoods, as well as rural communities, and learn about local historical facts. During their project, pupils should be able to recognise the implications and consequences of what happened, and also that there are many different perceptions and interpretations.

There is so much local heritage you may wish to consider, from exploring the impact of different key historical events (i.e. the famine, world wars, the Ulster Covenant/partition) through to studying various local places of worship, different cultural and sporting organisations, monuments or even the significance of local place names.

This programme is being kindly supported through a private donor.
