Nominations are now open for the 2021 Civic Community Awards to find people who have made a real difference in Middlesbrough.
This year, the Awards will focus on celebrating the incredible local spirit, which has seen residents and organisations collaborating together to support vulnerable communities at this difficult time.
Categories
The 2021 Middlesbrough Civic Community Awards categories are:
- Citizen of the Year: This award recognises someone who’s gone the extra mile to help and support others, and who is passionate about making a difference in their community. They inspire others and are a true shining beacon in the local area. The person you nominate must live in Middlesbrough.
- Covid Hero: For this award, they want to hear about those special people whose dedication and integrity has made a difference to others during the coronavirus pandemic. The Covid Hero award will recognise someone who has improved people’s lives or their community in a time of crisis.
- Health and Wellbeing Hero: They are looking for a business, community organisation, or person who is focussed on improving the health and wellbeing of those living or working in Middlesbrough, or who has made positive healthy lifestyle changes for themselves or others.
- Helping People Learn: They are looking for a business, community organisation, or person who is passionate about helping people to improve their educational and career prospects. This might be an individual who left school with minimum qualifications and went on to achieve the qualifications needed for a professional role, or an employer who recognises the need for, and supports their staff with, qualifications and training.
- Improving Job Opportunities: They are looking for a business, community organisation, or person who supports local people into employment in creative ways, creates apprenticeships, takes on volunteers to give them work experience, and encourages people to take training courses.
- Improving Our Neighbourhoods: They are looking for a business, community organisation, or person who has made a significant contribution to the conservation and protection of the natural environment. They work with others to make Middlesbrough better. From running community projects to organising community litter-picks, and everything in between – they are looking for anyone who helps to improve the area they live in.
- Making People Happier: They are looking for a business, community organisation, or person who gives up their time for the benefit of others. For this award, they welcome nominations for people of all ages and for all types of volunteering, including charities, businesses, or individuals – they are looking for anyone who’s focussed on making people happier.
- Middlesbrough Children Matter: Do you know a young person in Middlesbrough who’s achieved something which deserves recognition? This award recognises a young person (up to age 18) who deserves special appreciation for the unique and valuable contribution they’ve made to the town, or to other young people in Middlesbrough.
If you know a business, organisation, or individual who has made a positive or selfless contribution to the lives of Middlesbrough residents, they want to hear their story. There are lots of heroes in Middlesbrough and they want to celebrate them.
