Mercy Foundation’s 2020 Social Justice Small Grants Program in Australia

Deadline: 27 February 2017

The Technical Assistance for Civil Society Organisations (TACSO) is currently seeking applications for its “Participation in Storytelling Capacity Building Activity for CSOs”  to strengthen the overall capacities and accountability of Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) within the Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance (IPA) beneficiaries; to guarantee the quality of services of Civil Society Organisations (CSOs); and to create a sustainable role of CSOs in the democratic and European integration processes.

The main purposes of the project are to:

Message development and storytelling were recognised as areas where CSOs need additional assistance. Storytelling is the social and cultural activity of sharing stories, often with improvisation, theatrics, or embellishment.

Stories or narratives have been shared in every culture as a means of entertainment, education, cultural preservation and instilling moral values. Messages should be developed, and stories should be told to intrigue a journalist; to inform the public of an organisation’s work and impact; to inspire donors to give; to encourage volunteers to take action; to garner support from communities to the organisation’s causes; to motivate the staff to aim higher, to spark an advocacy revolution, and to build trust and confidence in the CSOs’ cause.
