Deadline: 20-Nov-23
The Civil society members of the Funding Board of the United Nations Women’s Peace and Humanitarian Fund (WPHF) are seeking two international or regional civil society organizations to join its Board for the following three-year term 2024-2026.
WPHF is a global pooled funding mechanism which aims to re-energize action and stimulate a significant increase in financing for women’s participation, leadership, and empowerment in peace and security processes and humanitarian response. WPHF’s funding is exclusively directed at civil society organizations. Civil society members of the WPHF Funding Board have a unique opportunity to contribute with their experiences and insights to the work of a UN entity, support and improve the financing of women at the forefront of conflict and crisis, and participate in expert and high-level dialogues on the work of WPHF.
In line with the WPHF Strategic Plan 2023-2025, WPHF’s overarching goal is to achieve inclusive and sustainable peace. The accomplishment of this goal will require that women are empowered to participate in, contribute to, and benefit from conflict prevention, crisis response, peacebuilding, and recovery. Results in these areas constitute the outcomes of WPHF’s theory of change.
Outcomes
- The specific outcomes for the 2023-2025 period are:
- Enabling environment for the implementation of WPS commitments: enhanced role of civil society organizations in advocating for and ensuring accountability on WPS commitments.
- Conflict prevention: increased meaningful participation and decision-making of women in conflict prevention processes and response.
- Humanitarian and crisis response: enhanced participation and leadership of women in humanitarian planning and response.
- Conflict resolution: increased representation and leadership of women in formal and informal peace processes and/or the implementation of peace agreements.
- Protection of women and girls: enhanced safety, security and mental health of women and girls and their human rights respected.
- Peacebuilding and recovery: improved socio-economic recovery and political participation of women and girls in peacebuilding contexts.
