Apply Now: Sony Music Group Global Scholars Program

2024 Accelerator Awards in the US

Deadline: 08-Aug-2025

The Global Social Justice Fund by Sony Music Group, in partnership with the Institute of International Education (IIE), has launched a new global scholarship program. This initiative is aimed at supporting young, diverse talent in the music industry by offering financial assistance for post-secondary education in music and music business fields.

The Sony Music Group Global Scholars Program is part of Sony’s broader commitment to social justice. It provides scholarships to students enrolled in accredited colleges and universities that offer music and music business programs. The program is designed to open up opportunities and reduce financial barriers for students from diverse backgrounds.

The scholarship helps ease the financial burden on students by offering support throughout their degree program, depending on their financial need and region. It also aims to guide students through college to graduation while enriching their experience with exposure to Sony Music Group professionals and events like the Global Scholars Conference.

The program also works to grow a diverse pipeline of future music industry leaders by supporting their development and preparing them for careers in the field. Scholars will benefit from mentorship and career guidance throughout their academic journey.

For students in the U.S., the scholarship amount will be determined based on unmet financial need. Awards range from $3,000 to $20,000 and can be renewed for up to three additional years or until the degree is completed, whichever comes first.

To be eligible, students must plan to enroll full-time in an undergraduate program in a music or music business-related field for the 2025–2026 academic year. A minimum GPA equivalent to 3.0 on a 4.0 scale is required, along with evidence of financial need and potential to succeed academically and professionally in the music industry.

Applicants do not need to be accepted into a program at the time of application, but if chosen, they must provide proof of full-time enrollment before receiving funds.

Evaluation will focus on academic achievement, leadership potential, demonstrated interest in music, personal character, and financial need. Applicants should also show a clear alignment between their goals and the scholarship’s objectives.

A complete application must be submitted in English. It includes an online form, a personal statement (up to 3,500 characters), estimated tuition and fees for 2025–2026, two reference letters from non-family members, and a transcript or grade report. Only fully completed applications submitted by the deadline will be reviewed. Any falsified or plagiarized content will result in disqualification.
