Deadline: 24-Oct-21
The Community Foundation is currently seeking proposals for the Tyne & Wear High Sheriff’s Awards to reward young people in Tyne & Wear for contributing to the community.
The Tyne & Wear High Sheriff’s Awards Scheme rewards youth organisations that encourage and provide positive pursuits for young people, providing them with role models and helping them to develop into upstanding citizens.
The Fund makes awards to community youth projects and other similar not-for-profit organisations that engage young people aged 10-25 in constructive and developmental activities that encourage their personal development and deter them from anti-social activities. The Fund also acknowledges the work of volunteers and encourages the development of young volunteers.
Award winners are encouraged to attend a presentation event in March to celebrate the work of young people in Tyne & Wear. If circumstances mean that it is not possible to host a physical event, it is likely an online event will take place instead.
Funding Information
Grant Range: £750
Eligibility Criteria
- Awards are made to voluntary and community organisations, and registered charities, based and working in Tyne & Wear. Applicants must focus their work with children and young people aged 10-25.
- The application should demonstrate how the young people are encouraged to be good citizens, either by volunteering, fundraising, or engaging positively with their organisation and the wider community. It also recognises work to support young people to overcome personal challenging lifestyles or turn their back on negative behaviour as a result of engaging with the organisation.
- Given the recent impact of Covid-19, the Fund will also aim to support organisations that provide youth skills, training, and employment for young people.
- Previous grant recipients from the Fund are welcome to apply again, as are those that have not previously been supported. For organisations that received funding in 2020/21.
