Dwell Here: One Month Residencies Programme

UK: Wolfson Foundation offers Funding for Museums & Galleries

Deadline: 22-Jul-2025

The Irish Museum of Modern Art (IMMA) invites applications for its Dwell Here: One Month Residencies, open to artists and practitioners based nationally and internationally. This residency offers a unique chance to live and work at the Museum for one month, engaging in independent site-responsive research while participating in a week-long seasonal Research Assembly.

Applicants from diverse disciplines including visual arts, design, architecture, curation, and related humanities fields are encouraged to apply. Residents will spend three weeks focused on their own research, with the fourth week overlapping a Research Assembly to connect with mentors, peers, and the broader residency community.

The Dwell Here program centers on communal engagement and interdisciplinary dialogue. Participants benefit from studio visits, discussions, interactions with IMMA’s programming, staff, collections, and archives, as well as local and off-site visits. The residency fosters informal knowledge exchange through co-hospitality, co-working, and co-living.

Residents explore themes such as “Technologies of Peace,” which examines commemorative landscapes and sustainable coexistence; “The Irish Paradigm,” focusing on intimacy and connection from Ireland’s unique geographic and cultural position; and “The Museum as a Site of Vibration,” reflecting on cultural shifts within the legacy of empire.

Residents receive free shared accommodation with a private bedroom, access to a shared studio if needed, and essential amenities like electricity, heating, Wi-Fi, and parking. A weekly bursary of €250 supports pre-agreed contracted weeks, and IMMA covers one return journey for those coming from outside Ireland. The residency is self-catering with occasional hospitality provided, though accommodation for partners or family members is not available.

IMMA welcomes Expressions of Interest from committed artists and thinkers worldwide who pursue research excellence within their discipline.
