Deadline: 01-Dec-2025
The Enhance Call under the PoliRuralPlus project invites proposals that validate and apply the JackDaw AI chatbot to support smarter, data-informed decision-making in rural-urban development contexts across Europe.
The focus areas of this call include applying JackDaw in real European contexts such as policy-making, planning, research, or stakeholder engagement to demonstrate its ability to support evidence-based decisions via spatially contextualised conversations; providing structured validation feedback on JackDaw’s usability, reliability, and added value to help shape a robust, user-friendly tool; empowering stakeholders including local authorities, SMEs, NGOs, citizens, and researchers to access and interpret territorial data innovatively; contributing to capacity building by training local actors in AI-based map analysis and strengthening digital skills; gaining visibility as funded projects will be showcased through the PoliRuralPlus platform; and ensuring sustainability and replicability by documenting lessons learned and proposing future use pathways across Europe.
The Enhance Call funds targeted validation projects with a budget of up to €25,000 per project and an estimated implementation period from February to July 2026, supporting 7 to 15 projects. Eligible applicants are single legal entities established in EU Member States or Horizon Europe-associated countries.
JackDaw is the flagship AI-powered GeoAI chatbot developed under PoliRuralPlus, designed to enable interactive exploration and analysis of spatial data through natural language queries linked to maps. It combines natural language processing with geospatial intelligence to support evidence-based decision-making and foster inclusive participation in rural and urban development. Applicants are expected to test JackDaw in diverse real-world European contexts, collect structured user feedback on its functionality and impact, and demonstrate its added value for decision-making.
Proposals undergo a structured submission and evaluation process focusing on alignment with the call objectives, expected impacts, and quality of implementation. Deliverables include dissemination outputs such as blog posts and social media updates, structured user feedback via an online form, and a comprehensive final validation report detailing use cases, lessons learned, and recommendations for further tool improvement and adoption.
Financial support is provided as a lump sum, with 30% paid on contract signing and 70% after deliverable acceptance. Participation contributes to the last stage of PoliRuralPlus’s mission to enhance rural-urban interactions in Europe, ensuring the tool’s sustainability and wider adoption.
