Apply for Unity in Nature and Community Program

Call for Proposals: Supporting Community-Led Solutions for Social Cohesion in Montenegro

Deadline: 15-Oct-2025

The Mohamed bin Zayed Species Conservation Fund has launched its Unity in Nature and Community Program to support environmental action, protect life, and preserve resources for future generations.

The Fund’s grant program is designed to support conservation projects that demonstrate clear commitment to the protection and recovery of species in their natural habitats. With a focus on flexibility and simplicity in application review, the Fund aims to evaluate diverse projects on their individual merits while adhering to key criteria.

Applicants are encouraged to ensure that their proposed work aligns closely with the Fund’s conservation priorities, particularly those involving endangered and critically endangered species.

Projects may involve a combination of fieldwork, data collection, and direct conservation action, while certain ex situ components such as genetic analysis or workshops may also be considered if they directly contribute to species conservation.

Applicants should note that requests exceeding $25,000 will not be considered and that continuation grants may be provided for successfully completed projects with all reporting requirements fulfilled. Anyone directly involved in species conservation can apply to the Fund for a grant.

Although the Fund does not cover general administrative or organizational overheads, it recognizes that project-related living expenses and staff costs can be essential components of conservation fieldwork.

Generally the Fund is primarily interested in providing support to in situ conservation work in the field (such as survey work and data gathering, direct action, recovery management, training and the like), focusing on the species in its natural habitat.

However, the importance of ex situ work (genetic analysis, workshops, ex situ populations etc) is also recognised, and so a few grants may be given to projects which focus on ex situ conservation work in certain circumstances.

All applications must be made through the Fund’s online platform, with supporting documentation sent as email attachments if necessary. Application closes on 15 October 2025.
