Call for Households from Skopje for the Installation of Inverters (North Macedonia)

In order to improve air quality, the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), in partnership with the City of Skopje and the Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning (MZSPP),is announcing a call for households from Skopje who are beneficiaries of financial support for consumed electricity for people with low incomes for 2022, which is awarded by the Ministry of Economy, to install new energy-efficient heating units – air conditioners (inverters).

This call is implemented in cooperation with the Ministry of Economy.

The financial support for the introduction of these measures is provided by Sweden through the project “Tackling air pollution in the city of Skopje.

The analysis to determine the share of the different sources of pollution in Skopje shows that the burning of biomass remains the largest single source of ambient air pollution, and due to the specific time distribution, it is the main driver of the occurrence of cases of high pollution during the winter period.
