The Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) is pleased to announce the Minorities Fellowship Programme for human rights and minority rights defenders belonging to national or ethnic, religious and linguistic minorities.

The OHCHR Minorities Fellowship Program was established in 2005 by the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) to provide minority rights defenders with the opportunity to learn about the work of UN institutions and mechanisms that deal with human rights, in general, and minority rights, in particular. Participants who complete the fellowship will be able to better assist their organizations and communities in protecting and promoting their rights. The 4-weeks fellowship programme comprise of a 1-week Preparatory Training component in Strasbourg, France and 3-week programme in Geneva. The 2024 cohort will be available in 3 languages: Arabic, English and Russian.

The Programme further serves as an opportunity for human rights activists working towards the protection and promotion of minority rights to expand their partners’ base. They do this by building a strategic dialogue with fellow activists from across the globe, the United Nations, and relevant Geneva-based NGOs, amongst other partners.
