The Dag Hammarskjöld Fund for Journalists is now accepting applications from professional journalists for its 2020 fellowship program.

The Dag Hammarskjöld Fund for Journalists was established as a not-for-profit organization more than 55 years ago by journalists at the United Nations as a living memorial to the legacy of peace, progress and justice of Dag Hammarskjöld, the second UN Secretary-General who was killed in a plane crash while on a peace mission to the Congo in 1961.

Although the Fund is based at the United Nations, it does not receive financial support from the world organization. The Fund’s program for journalists relies entirely on financial support from U.N. Missions, foundations, organizations and individuals.

The fellowships will begin in early September and extend to late November and will include the cost of travel and accommodations in New York, as well as a per diem allowance.
