Applications open for 2023 Trade and Public Health Workshop

7th Global Capacity-Building Workshop on GCED

Deadline: 25-Jul-23

The World Trade Organization (WTO) has announced an open call for the 2023 Trade and Public Health Workshop, an intensive one-week programme delivered by expert speakers with different backgrounds and expertise, participants will examine the role that multilateral trade agreements play as part of the wider action to meet increasingly urgent public health needs.

The WTO will hold its annual Workshop on Trade and Public Health for senior government officials from 6 to 10 November 2023 in Geneva.

The 17th WTO Trade and Public Health Workshop, organized in close collaboration with the secretariats of the World Health Organization (WHO) and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), takes a holistic approach to the interlinkages between public health, trade and intellectual property (IP).

The workshop’s content is multidisciplinary and based on the second edition of the WHO-WIPO-WTO Trilateral Study “Promoting Access to Medical Technologies and Innovation: Intersections between Public Health, Intellectual Property and Trade”.

Participants will also look into targeted practical case studies designed to examine key policy tools and how to effectively apply them to foster positive public health outcomes.
