NIH Research Projects: Human Heredity and Health in Africa (H3Africa)

The NIH Common Fund (Common Fund) and participating NIH Institute(s) and Center(s), invites applications from foreign Institutions in African countries for the program titled-Human Heredity and Health in Africa (H3Africa). An H3Africa Research Project is a discrete, specified, circumscribed research project, conducted by a single investigator or multiple investigators, that employs state-of-the-art genomics approaches and relates to the study of genetic and/or environmental contributors to specific health conditions or diseases relevant to African populations.

Objectives

In order to enhance the capacity for genomics and environmental health research, in Africa by African scientists, and to understand the genetic and environmental factors that determine disease susceptibility, H3Africa has three interrelated, interdependent objectives:

The available budget for this program is $250,000.
